Our Philosophy
It’s yoga practice, not yoga perfect. Be true to who you are! It's one thing to move through the postures, the Asana, but a mindful yoga practice is more than that. It's about letting go of the ego, mental chatter, the 'monkey mind,' and drop in to the present moment.
Our systematic and therapeutic sequencing of the postures is designed to help you reach a state of mind that is peaceful and relaxing. This is as much a mental practice as it is physical, it is not a workout but a work in.
How we are on our mat is a reflection of how we are in our lives.
That means the lessons are all around is. Our practice provides the opportunity to be present for those moments.
We are here to guide you to be your best teacher; we are just giving the cues.
- Learning to accept the things we cannot change,
- Building the courage to explore new depths, and
- Demonstrating the wisdom to realize that we are all different, but yet all so deeply interconnected.
The secret to happiness is gratitude, and gratitude is the lightning rod of the present.
In a Sol Hot Yoga class, this is the reflection we seek - the beauty of the present moment. The key is not what you're doing, but rather, how you're being and why you decided to practice. When you can rest in the heat & smile through the challenges - to let go of the visual & move organically - then you are practicing Yoga. Then, the true beauty, strength, wisdom, and grace emerges.

Sky's in-depth knowledge, experience & unique gifts as a yoga teacher pairs well with Matt's background to deliver a values-based practice.
Now, our story continues with you! We look forward to seeing you in the studio soon.

Sky Andrews
Founder & Over 5000 hours Teaching Yoga
Sky — Lead Teacher & Ritual Guide
Sky’s yoga journey began over two decades ago on the island of Guam, where she was immersed in the fast-paced world of hotel and restaurant management. Life was loud and demanding—until she stepped into her first yoga class. In that simple space of breath and movement, something shifted. She felt the quiet. The return. The beginning of what would become a lifelong practice—a way of living, seeing, and being.
That first encounter with yoga in 2002 was more than physical; it awakened something ancient and essential. The practice offered a kind of sanctuary, a sacred pause from the external world—a way to come home to herself. As life unfolded, Sky followed that inner compass. She moved back to the mainland, where her husband was soon deployed to Iraq. Far from family, newly settled, and seeking grounding in the unfamiliar, she returned to her mat again and again. It became her refuge. Her ritual.
In 2005, Sky found hot yoga and was instantly drawn to its intensity, its cleansing heat, and its ability to draw one deeper into the present moment. She immersed herself in the practice, and by 2010, answered the call to teach. Since then, she has guided over 6,000 hours of yoga classes, workshops, and teacher trainings—helping thousands of students awaken to their own truth, strength, and clarity.
Sky teaches from the heart. Her classes are more than sequences of poses; they are intentional journeys—rituals of transformation. Each breath becomes a tool of remembrance. Each movement, a mirror. Her teachings are steeped in the philosophy that yoga is not just something we do—it is how we live. With awareness. With courage. With devotion.
To teach yoga, she believes, is to serve. To hold space for others as they unearth their power, meet themselves with compassion, and return to the wholeness that has always been within them. It is both a gift and a responsibility—to offer this practice as a pathway back to one’s truest self.
Sky is honored to be part of your journey at Sol. She invites you to step into the fire of your own practice, not just to become stronger or more flexible, but to become aware. To remember who you are beneath the noise. And to live each day with presence, intention, and soul.

Matt Andrews
Veteran, Teacher & Native Hoosier
Matt — Yoga Therapist, Teacher & Guide
Matt’s path to the yoga mat was anything but conventional—and all the more powerful because of it.
A retired U.S. military officer, Matt served in Special Operations as a bomb disposal technician, assigned to some of the most elite military units in the world. His life was defined by high-stakes intensity, discipline, and service. But beneath it all, there was also a seeker—a soul drawn to the deeper questions of life, shaped by his study of martial arts, the poetry of the Samurai, and the wisdom of the Zen masters. From a young age as a wrestler, then an All-American boxer at the U.S. Naval Academy, Matt understood the profound connection between body, mind, and spirit.
It wasn’t until after a particularly grueling deployment that Matt found his way into a yoga class—thanks to his wife, Sky. He arrived home at 3 a.m. from overseas, and by 10 a.m., Sky had him in a Level 2 Hot Vinyasa class. It was exactly what he needed. The physical challenge met his strength; the presence of the practice met his spirit. In that moment, everything clicked. Yoga became the bridge—connecting the intensity of his past with the inner stillness he had long cultivated in silence and prayer.
Today, Matt is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), a certified Yoga Therapist, and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with over 2,000 hours of teaching experience. His trainings include a 500-hour certification from Integral Yoga, founded by Swami Satchidananda—the revered “Woodstock Guru.” He brings a wealth of knowledge in Hatha Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Restorative Yoga, and advanced practices in meditation and mindfulness.
At Sol, Matt shares yoga as a living, breathing art of integration. His classes are grounded, soul-centered, and infused with a deep reverence for the inner journey. Drawing from a lifetime of spiritual discipline, movement mastery, and lived experience, he invites students into a practice that is both powerful and prayerful—an embodied way to align body, mind, and soul.
Whether you’re walking through healing, seeking deeper presence, or simply wanting to feel more fully alive, Matt offers a steady and compassionate presence—a reminder that yoga isn’t about escaping life, but meeting it with intention, integrity, and grace.

Anastasia
Graduate of Sol Hot Yoga Teacher Training, 2021.
Anastasia started practicing with Sol Hot Yoga in the Summer of 2019. Fitness had always been achieved up to this point through running, cardio, and high intensity exercise. As a Pre-K teacher and pharmacy technician with a very busy lifestyle, yoga provided an outlet to still her mind and center her energy while also gaining strength and flexibility physically.
Since teaching is a passion and calling of hers, it was only natural that she decided to enroll in the Sol Teacher Training program in November of 2020.
It is such a privilege for her to be able to share her love and kind heart with others through her yoga practice.
It is a personal goal of hers to serve the lives of those in her community by helping them shed the barriers they may have created around themselves in order to better connect with others, self, and the natural world.

Rachel
Graduate of Sol Hot Yoga Teacher Training, 2021.
Rachel started her journey with yoga in 2011 when in college trying to find the balance between a full school and work schedule she enrolled in a course learning the basics of yoga. She loved learning about the anatomy and alignment of poses so much so that she enrolled in the level II course the following semester. Being an athlete and always participating in team sports yoga gave her a sense of community as she entered a new chapter in her life. After college she continued to seek out yoga wherever she went and practicing with several inspiring teachers, which sparked her interest in teaching.
After a move in 2019 she found SOL Hot Yoga Studio. Having never tried Hot Yoga she was hooked after the first class and really noticed the positive benefits it brought to her on and off the mat. To continue her journey with yoga and deepen her practice she completed her RYT- 200hr certification with SOL in 2021 and immediately began teaching. She loves sharing the practice with everyone she can and encouraging friends and family to join.

Jen
Graduate of Sol Hot Yoga Teacher Training, 2021.
The transformative power of yoga has shaped Jen Ashley’s life for the past 15 years. A native of Chicago, Jen has worked in the high-pressure world of television production for the past two decades, and today is responsible for hundreds of hours of television programming each year for a major motorsports network. Jen has also produced documentary-style programming for Discovery, Hallmark Channel, and National Geographic.
Jen first experienced yoga while living in Chicago, and she continued practicing while living in California. A relocation to Indiana in 2019 led Jen to SOL Hot Yoga Studio, which greatly elevated her yoga experience. She began to notice how good she felt on the mat, and the good feelings soon began to influence life away from the mat. The experience led Jen to begin paying closer attention to how her body was feeling, and she was soon adjusting her lifestyle to enhance that feeling.
As her experience blossomed Jen began to delve into a deeper understanding of the correct alignment for postures, and the importance of sequencing and building on postures. She also began to study the history of yoga and how it has evolved with the passing of time. Jen graduated SOL teacher training in June 2021, and was immediately busy in the studio teaching Hatha and Vinyasa. Jen’s passion and enthusiasm has helped others know and share her love of yoga as she embraced her new teaching role.
Jen’s ongoing work in television production leads her to extensive travel throughout the year, and her quest is to find a yoga studio in each city she visits. With diligent efforts, this has allowed Jen to continue to grow her yoga experience in even the most rural American regions!

- What made you come to your first class?
I was looking to integrate restorative movement/exercise into my routine. I was lifting heavy at the time and always felt tight and sore. I also wanted an outlet to decompress and detox. Hot yoga sounded like the perfect solution to me.
- How often do you practice with Sol?
In the studio I have been practicing a few times a week, and I feel best when it is at least 3x a week. If I can’t get in the studio to practice, I make sure to take moments in my day to be still, meditate, self reflect, consciously breathe, and be mindful. I love to do this with red light therapy and lavender incense at home during the winter months.
- What keeps you coming back to practice with Sol?
The calm and reset I feel afterward, physically and mentally. My body and mind are softer. My mind is more quiet.
- Have you noticed any benefits to your personal or professional life as result of your yoga practice with Sol?
I’ve noticed more mindfulness and I am less reactive. I can be more present and self reflective. I’m experiencing more gratitude and appreciation for little moments with family and friends. It has helped with previous experience of burnout. I also have learned tools to help my patients as a nurse practitioner. I recommend my patients integrate restorative and self care practices like yoga, meditation, and self-care.
- What’s your favorite yoga class with Sol?
At first it was vinyasa because I was used to pushing my body with cardio and strength in the past. I felt like the harder the workout, the better for me. Now, I like them both equally. Hatha gives me balance , a calm feeling, and clarity. And I’ve learned to appreciate that.
- What’s your favorite yoga posture in Sol’s lineup?
I think pigeon is my favorite. I feel like it really helps me to open my hips and release tension/stiffness while also helping me find length. Im able to breathe in the posture with my entire body (front and back). It just feels so relaxing!
- What’s your favorite thing about practicing with Sol?
My favorite thing about practicing with Sol is there is never any pressure to be a certain way. The practice meets you where you are without judgement. Its okay if each day or season of life is different for you. Sol allows you to practice with no pressure to be perfect.
